3 people, including a 9-year-old, escaped with only minor injuries in a head-on collision

ODESSA, Mo. (KCTV) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol said three people were involved in a head-on crash east of Odessa, Missouri, on Saturday.

According to MSHP, the accident occurred at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 5 right in front of the I-70 Speedway.

A 34-year-old Independence man was driving his 1999 Ford Mustang south on Highway M when he turned left into the path of a 1992 Dodge Dakota that was traveling north. The cars collided head-on and stopped on the road.

MSHP said the 34-year-old Ford driver, the 20-year-old Dodge driver and the 9-year-old passenger of the Dodge all suffered minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene.

Both cars were totaled and were towed from the scene. Everyone involved was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.
