Mother and son flee crazed otter after attack in Washington state: video

A crazed otter threatened a family at a Washington state marina shortly after nearly drowning a boy it dragged off a dock, a shocking new video has revealed.

According to KIRO 7 News in Seattle, the footage was captured last month shortly after the twisted beast targeted a mother and her young son.

The boy narrowly survived being dragged underwater by the rampaging river otter – which also attacked the boy's horrified mother during a morning walk, authorities said.

According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the boy was with his mother on a dock at the Bremerton Marina in Kitsap County on the morning of Sept. 12 when the otter struck.

None of the videos KIRO 7 obtained from the Port of Bremerton show the actual attack, but in one clip the frightened mother and son can be seen running down the dock – with the otter hot on their heels shortly after.

As the clip showed, the group appeared to calm down before leaving the area.

As soon as they get up the exit ramps, the bold otter hops back onto the dock.

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officials said that in most cases, otters tend to avoid people, KIRO 7 reported.

The boy – whose name has not been publicly released – was taken to hospital for treatment for bites and scratches.

Wildlife officials said they caught and killed an otter in the area and tested it for rabies.

The stunning marina attack came just days after a woman in Malaysia was left bleeding and crying after being mauled by eight otters while jogging.
