Three injured in head-on car crash in Savoy, MA

Our partners at The Berkshire Eagle tell us three people were injured in a head-on collision involving two SUVs in Savoy on Friday morning.

They tell us that around 7:23 a.m. one of the vehicles crossed the center line on Route 116 near Tomb Cemetery

The SUV in turn collided and one of the vehicles overturned.

The Berkshire Eagle tells us that the driver of the overturned SUV had to be extricated by firefighters and sustained serious injuries.

They say emergency responders attempted to take the driver to Albany via LifeFlight, but were unable to do so due to the fog.

The other driver and passenger of the seriously injured vehicle suffered minor injuries.

All three injured people were taken to local hospitals, The Berkshire Eagle said.

Savoy Fire Chief Peter Miner said the accident disrupted traffic for about half an hour and delayed commuters as they had to temporarily close the road.

The Berkshire Eagle tells us that Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash.
