The 16th annual Oktoberfest returns to Cedarburg this weekend | News from Ozaukee Co.

CEDARBURG – Put on your lederhosen and grab a mug because the 16th annual Oktoberfest is coming back to downtown Cedarburg on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The festivities will take place in a giant tent in the parking lot of the Cedarburg Community Gym, W63N641 Washington Ave.

Entertainment will be provided by bands and dancers such as the Pommersche Tanzdeel Dancers, the D'Lustig'n Wendlstoana Dancers, River City Blaskepelle, the Schnapps and Tanz Band, the Milwaukee Liederkranz Chorus, the 2/5ths Party Band and the Cedarburg Civic Band.

In addition, there will be a live chime show (cuckoo clock), an animated clock in which individuals will intermittently appear to dance and reappear every two hours. Competitions with award ceremonies include “Oktoberfest Trivia” and “Spelling Bee”, “Best Lederhosen/Dirndl” in the “Adult” and “Youth” categories and the popular “Masskrugstemmen” competition. There's also the option to try your hand at hammerbeating, where participants compete against each other by driving nails into a wooden beam.

New contests this year include Best Pigtails (adults and youth), Best Mustache, Best Yodel, Best Pitcher, Best Collectible Pins and the Pretzel Eating Contest.

On Sunday, cars from the Milwaukee Chapter of the Porsche Club of America will be on display from 1 to 5 p.m

For the youth, Cedarburg High School students will offer arts and crafts activities as well as lemonade and hot cider to raise funds for the German American Partnership Program's exchange trip to Germany in summer 2025.

Shop the expanded marketplace throughout the City Hall parking lot and lawn on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase and fill collectible German steins to benefit the Festivals of Cedarburg.

Festival-goers are also asked to bring their own mugs – special refill prices apply. They can then fill those mugs with countless specialty beers in the Foxtown Brewing beer garden on the City Hall lawn.

Authentic German dinners are served by the Milwaukee Glockenspiel Group, including Sauerbraten, Wiener Schnitzel, German Wurstplatte and more. The Cedarburg Lions offer bratwurst, currywurst, burgers, hot dogs and turkey legs.

Pets are not permitted on the festival grounds and festival visitors are asked to support our Oktoberfest by not bringing pets with them. Alcoholic drinks must be consumed on the festival grounds.
