Two people arrested for drug trafficking in Maine

A 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop on Union Street in Bangor.

Jasmine Donovan of Maine and Sandy Alexander Mateo-Ruiz of the Dominican Republic were taken into custody Tuesday.

MDEA has received information about drugs coming into Maine

MDEA agents received information that they were traveling from Massachusetts to Maine to distribute drugs in northern Penobscot County, WGME News said.

Drugs and cash confiscated

A K-9 discovered drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Agents and Bangor police searched the vehicle and seized approximately 290 grams of fentanyl and $560 in suspected drug proceeds. The estimated street value of the drugs is over $40,000.

Aggravated drug trafficking charge

Donovan and Mateo-Ruiz were charged with aggravated drug trafficking. His bail was set at $100,000 cash. Her bond was $50,000 cash or surety.
