3 with life-threatening injuries in crash in Norwich

Three people were injured in the accident, including two adults and a child. The fire department rescued one person from the car and two were able to free themselves.

NORWICH, Conn. – A car left the road in Norwich Friday evening and collided with several trees, leaving three people with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Taftville Fire Company #2.

On Friday at 6:18 p.m., TFC said they were in the area of ​​Taftville-Occum Road in Norwich for a report of a car that had left the road in the S-curves.

Investigators learned the car left the road, struck two 20-foot-tall trees, spun 180 degrees and backed into another tree, TFC said.

Three people were injured in the accident, including two adults and a child.

According to TFC, within 18 minutes, Taftville firefighters rescued a person trapped in the car using recovery tools, including their Jaws of Life. Two other people were able to get out of the car independently.

American Ambulance paramedics took the three people to Backus Hospital.

Two have since been transferred to a “higher level of care” at Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center, one by LifeStar helicopter, TFC said. Her current condition is unknown.
