It should be a tough battle between two talented firecrackers that will be hard-fought until the end. Find out why my Holland vs Dolidze predictions suggest that the former will need to show his utmost discipline to win this clash on Saturday, October 5th.

The UFC odds have Holland as the -150 favorite, while Dolidze is a +120 underdog.

Dolidze vs Holland prediction and selection

Combat analysis

Holland and Dolidze are two fighters who chronically underperform, both claiming victory a weight class higher than normal after losing two in a row.

Dolidze is an immensely strong and skilled wrestler who appears to have sacrificed his best skills in favor of being a ferocious striker. He is coming off a win against Anthony Smith at light heavyweight, where he proved this by scoring just one takedown and choosing to strike with Smith in a terrible performance.

If there's one fight for Dolizde to win with his wrestling, it's this one, as Holland's power, speed and reach make it particularly difficult to win a conventional striking fight.

Similar to Dolizde, Holland would have progressed further in his career if he had just focused on his excellent striking instead of trying to develop his grappling on the fly. Although physically gifted and talented, Holland has below average fight intelligence and is willing to give up the farm when he feels like he wants to switch gears and give wrestling a try.

The problem with Holland is that his attacks tend to create opportunities to utilize his solid BJJ, as we saw in his recent submission win against Michal Oleksiejczuk.

To Holland's credit, he has improved his takedown defense tremendously. As tough as Dolidze is, we have seen him overused by both average and excellent strikers, such as Nassourdine Imavov, who almost stopped him in every round of their fight, and Marvin Vettori, who used an attacking technique against him set the day.

Additionally, Holland tends to perform better the further down the map he is. If this were a co-main or main event on a Fight Night card, he has shown that nerves can get to him. As long as Holland stays focused and doesn't test Dolidze on the mat, he will win and I'm picking him with caution.

Best best analysis

Holland does his best work on the outside when he can use every inch of his 81-inch wingspan, and he has a readily available target as Dolidze likes to rush inside and make big throws.

Since Dolizde has an incredible chin and is a physically strong fighter, I can see him taking Holland's shots and still pushing forward, perhaps hoping to secure a win and looking for defeats as the fight progresses. I don't see an end, but I consider this a mistake.

My best bet is that the fight lasts more than 2.5 rounds.
