Rein Entertainment launches Slate with the “Drug War” series

EXCLUSIVE: Following his work on premium series The BagmanThe Filipino production company Rein Entertainment is presenting a number of films and series, especially crime series, at the Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM) in Busan Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence and Lino Cayetano’s “neo-western” film Salvage land.

Drug War: A Conspiracy of SilenceDirected by Shugo Praico, the film is about a sharp-witted priest from a privileged background who teams up with a remorseful policewoman to uncover the circumstances behind the death of his missing protégé.

The 6 x 60-minute series currently in production stars Ian Veneracion, who won Best Actor at the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival for Rein Entertainment A silent night (Nanahimik Ang Gabi), also directed by Praico.

Salvage land Richard Gomez and Elijah Canlas star in the story of an idealistic police officer and his father, a cynical veteran police officer. Father and son must confront their conflicting values ​​and questions of integrity and duty when the son tries to help a woman escape from an abusive gang leader. Production on the film is scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2025.

Rein Entertainment is also in post-production on Praico's eco-horror film. Building supervisorstarring Iza Calzado and Dimples Romana as two mothers torn between modernity and the spiritual beliefs of their ancestors.

The company collaborated on the film with Regal Entertainment, one of the Philippines' oldest studios known for its horror legacy, and the Mother Earth Foundation, an initiative that promotes a zero-waste Philippines.

Rein is also working with critically acclaimed filmmakers on two other projects: a suspense thriller set in Korea Friday the 14thDirected and starring: Bela Padilla; and horror film Obosen, directed by Raya Martin and written by Ralston Jover.

Founded in 2017 by Praico, Cayetano and Philip King, three veterans of the Philippine film and television industry, Rein Entertainment also features LGBTQ+ romcom films, among others BetCin and two seasons of a crime series Bagmanstarring Arjo Atayde, which was picked up by Netflix. Arleen Cuevas works on the company's international projects while Charm Guzman leads production.

“We believe that Filipino content can compete with the best from Southeast Asia and the rest of the world, and we look forward to working with potential partners at ACFM in Busan,” Cayetano said.

Currently in the final stages of production, The Bagman, a reboot of the two seasons of Bagmanagain starring Atayde and is co-produced by Rein, ABS-CBN, Nathan Studios and Dreamscape Entertainment. ABS-CBN is also participating in the ACFM to sell international rights to the series.

Rein is attending the ACFM under the auspices of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), along with producer Maryruth Roven Maximo, who was selected for the Market's Platform Busan Initiative for Emerging Producers.
