The Seattle Sounders can take a step closer to their home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs with a win tonight against the Colorado Rapids, one of the teams they can still overtake in the standings.

To secure that position tonight, the Sounders would have to win and the Houston Dynamo would have to lose points at St. Louis City.

However, a loss could drop the Sounders to sixth place in the Western Conference standings and take away their control of their destiny and home field advantage.

The Sounders enter this game as the hottest team in MLS. They took 13 of the last 15 available points, have a record of 5-1-1 since the end of the League Cup and hold a record of 11-2-2 since June 15.

They have also been relatively good at Dick's Sporting Good Park, where they have a 9-5-2 all-time record and have picked up at least a point in four of their last five appearances (1-1-3).

• Albert Rusnák not only set a personal best with his 14th and 15th assists in Wednesday's league game, but also tied Nicolás Lodeiro for the most assists in all competitions (18) in a season in Sounders history. Rusnák is now just two goals away from breaking Obafemi Martins' single-season record.
• Cristian Roldan played his 340th game in all competitions for the Sounders on Wednesday. This puts him in second place on the Sounders' all-time list behind Stefan Frei (381).
• The Rapids lead the MLS with 14 penalties awarded. They converted nine of them.
• The Sounders lead the MLS with 12 goals from fouls, including eight from a penalty.
