LA Clippers and OKC Thunder fans react to Paul George's viral statement

Paul George may no longer be a member of the LA Clippers or the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he has somehow found a way to anger both fan bases with a single statement. Admittedly, George sometimes goes overboard with his statements, but this isn't one of them.

During the Philadelphia 76ers media day, George made a statement praising both Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid.

“This is the first time I’ve played with an elite point guard and an elite big man at the same time,” George said.

While it was simply meant to be a shout-out to how great Embiid and Maxey are as a pair, OKC Thunder fans saw it as a chance for Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams.

Many Steven Adams fans in particular have jumped on both the replies and quote tweets, defending the big man's play while he played on the OKC Thunder.

Some Clipper fans also jumped into the fray to defend both James Harden and Ivica Zubac, believing George may have shaded them as well.

Honestly, fans are definitely overreacting to George's statement. As good as Steven Adams and Russell Westbrook were, or as good as James Harden and Ivica Zubac, George plays simultaneously as an All-Star point guard and an NBA MVP center. This is something he has literally never done before, but he very well could have phrased the statement better than he did.
