Pereira vs Roundtree card winners and losers

The UFC is at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah tonight for the UFC 307 pay-per-view fight card. UFC 307 features two title fights at the top of the card. In the main event, UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira meets No. 8 ranked Khalil Rountree Jr. in the 205-pound class. In the co-main event, current UFC women's bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington meets former champion Julianna Pena .

The main card for UFC 307 streams on ESPN+ PPV after the prelims on ESPNews and the early prelims on ESPN+.

Pereira, a former UFC middleweight champion, won the vacant light heavyweight title in November 2023 when he knocked out former champion Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. Pereira has defended his title twice in 2024, knocking out former champion Jamahal Hill at UFC 300. and scored a second knockout against Prochazka in the rematch at UFC 303.

Rountree enters UFC 307 on a five-fight win streak, with four of those wins coming by knockout. Rountree's most recent win was a TKO in December over former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith. Rountree was booked to face Hill at UFC 303, but a self-reported failed drug test for a tainted nutritional supplement earned Hill a suspension and prevented him from fighting Hill.

Pennington won the vacant UFC women's bantamweight title at UFC 297 in January when she defeated Mayra Bueno Silva by decision. Pennington is undefeated in her last six fights and has won each fight by decision.

Pena shocked the MMA world in December 2021 when she pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC title fight history by defeating Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 to win the UFC women's bantamweight crown. However, Pena returned the title to Nunes in their UFC 277 rematch, dropping a decision to Nunes. Pena has not fought since her loss to Nunes in July 2022. She was scheduled to fight Nunes in a trilogy fight, but an injury prevented her from taking part in that fight. Instead, Nunes faced Irene Aldana, retained her title and then was eliminated. Pena is the No. 1 ranked fighter in the division.

Before the two UFC 307 title fights take place, a possible UFC women's bantamweight title eliminator is on the fight card. In this match, No. 2 Ketlen Vieira will face No. 3 Kayla Harrison.

Also appearing on the main card is former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who faces Mario Bautista in a bantamweight bout.

UFC 307 results, winners and losers will be updated live on the pay-per-view card tonight.

UFC 307 winner

Joaquin Buckley: Joaquin Buckley didn't have the technical skills of his UFC 307 opponent Stephen Thompson, but he didn't need those talents because he had the great equalizer in combat sports, and that is strength.

Buckley forced Thompson to the cage and uncorked a massive right hand strike that left his opponent floored in the third round. With the win, Buckley is 5-0 in the UFC welterweight division.

Iasmin Lucindo: Iasmin Lucindo got a test for her fifth UFC fight when she faced Marina Rodriguez in the UFC 307 prelims. The 22-year-old is still developing into a fighter, but she performed well on Saturday, using her grappling and ground control to score a split decision win over Rodriguez.

Alexander Hernandez: Alex Hernandez ended a two-fight losing streak with a decent striking performance against Austin Hubbard on Saturday. However, he became a bit predictable over time as his cardio wore off, allowing Hubbard to counter well in the third stanza.

Caesar Almeida: Cesar Almeida, a former kickboxer, is learning MMA part-time. The 36-year-old Brazilian took a measured approach to his middleweight fight against Ihor Potieria. Almeida took the win with effective counterattacks and some ground strikes in a foul attempt against Potieria. Almeida will need to increase his aggression and reduce his looks if he wants to move up the 185-pound rankings.

Ryan Spann: Ryan Spann ended a three-fight losing streak by forcing Ovince Saint Preux into a takedown with his powerful punch. The stunned Saint Preux's takedown attempt allowed Spann to secure a fight-ending guillotine choke.

Tecia Pennington: Tecia Pennington used her striking to inflict damage on Carla Esparza, particularly her leg kicks. This damage outweighed the ground control time Esparza earned in the 15-minute duel. The win ended a two-fight losing streak for Pennington.

Court McGee: Court McGee had a fantastic but short evening on Saturday, earning his first submission since beginning his UFC career with two straight submissions in 2010. McGee scored the victory over veteran contender Tim Means.

McGee was aggressive early and tried to prevent Means from using his striking skills by pushing him against the fence. Then McGee Means showed he could strike too, throwing some nice combinations when they worked in the open. These strikes initiated the takedown, which resulted in McGee recapturing Means and sinking the submarine.

The victory ended a three-fight losing streak for McGee, who had not won since his decision over Ramiz Brahimaj in 2022.

UFC 307 loser

Stephen Thompson: Stephen Thompson fell to 1-4 with a knockout loss to Joaquin Buckley at UFC 307 in July 2021. The defeat was Thompson's first knockout loss since his loss to Anthony Pettis in 2019.

Marina Rodríguez: Marina Rodriguez fell to 1-4 in her last five UFC outings with a split decision loss to Iasmin Lucindo. Rodriguez's lack of ground game cost her this strawweight bout.

Austin Hubbard: Austin Hubbard had a good third round against Alexander Hernandez. He may have had more success in the fight if he had pushed his opponent more in the first two rounds, as Hernandez seemed to lose strength as the fight progressed.

Dave Seljestad: In one of the worst refereeing performances in a long time, Dave Seljestad did not punish Cesar Almeida for several eye pokes and a low blow. To make matters worse, he broke the fighters out of the clinch within seconds of establishing this position. Terrible.

Your Potieria: Ihor Potieria was fouled frequently in his loss to Cesar Almeida. Potieria was unable to mount an effective attack, although he was poked in the eye and took low blows.

Ovince Saint Preux: Former interim UFC light heavyweight title challenger Ovince Saint Preux took part in the final fight of his UFC contract and was defeated by Ryan Spann.

Saint Preux is 2-3 in their last five games. He has been with the UFC since 2013 after a three-year stint with Strikeforce.

Salt Lake City fans: Booing Tecia Pennington while she tried to raise awareness about breast cancer and talking about a family member who lost her life to the disease wasn't a high point Saturday.

Carla Esparza: The two-time UFC women's strawweight champion retired on Saturday after a unanimous decision loss to Tecia Pennington. What cost Esparza was her inability to do damage on the mat. Esparza had decent control time after securing takedowns, which is likely why she was on the wrong side of the decision.

Tim means: Tim Means is now 1-5 in his last six games, coming off a loss to Tim Means on Saturday. Means couldn't do anything early against McGee, who controlled everything in the fight before securing an early submission.
