The temperature for the Arizona State-Kansas game is 107° at kickoff, breaking the record set in October

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State hosted the hottest October football game ever on Saturday. The temperature was 107 degrees Fahrenheit at the 5:05 p.m. kickoff against Kansas.

It is also the hottest game overall at Mountain America Stadium, with records dating back to 2000. The previous record – also 107 – was for a game against Sacramento State on September 5, 2013.

Triple-digit temperatures are common in central Arizona in early September, but this year's scorching heat will continue well into football season. The National Weather Service said Phoenix reached 111 degrees on Saturday, marking the 12th straight record-breaking day.

The other 12 hottest kickoffs in Arizona State stadium history all occurred before September 9th.
