Joliet's first murder in October: That's what the police say

JOLIET – A 42-year-old man from Joliet on the east side died Saturday afternoon as a result of gun violence. His killer escaped and hid before Joliet police arrived.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English:

At 3:49 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 800 block of Wenberg Street where shots were fired. There, officers found the 42-year-old man lying near the entrance to the apartment building with several shots.

Officers immediately provided medical aid until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived. The shooting victim was taken by the Joliet Fire Department to Silver Cross Hospital, where he died.

Additional officers and detectives arrived and conducted a full investigation of the scene. There were spent cartridge cases nearby. No additional victims have been located and the motive for this shooting remains under investigation, English said.
