Man charged with threats against women and children | Guam News

A man who allegedly claimed to be part of a “crew” is accused of threatening his girlfriend and her sons with “retaliation,” according to a lawsuit filed in the Supreme Court of Guam.

The complaint states that the incident occurred Tuesday at a residence in Dededo when Guam Police received a report of an altercation between a man and a woman.

“(The) victim stated that she and her boyfriend, Marc Antony Leon Guerrero Taman, … got into a heated argument at approximately 5:04 p.m. She stated that the defendant dragged her by her left arm from the toilet into the bedroom. which caused scratch marks on her arm,” court documents state.

The indictment does not disclose what sparked the argument, but the complaint states that the altercation became increasingly physical.

“She stated that the defendant suddenly angrily grabbed her by the throat with his right hand. She stated that she began choking and gasping for air,” the complaint states.

The woman's sons then intervened and escorted Taman from the apartment, which he allegedly viewed as “retaliation,” according to the complaint.

“She stated that the defendant yelled, 'I'm going to come back with my crew and shoot you!' “The defendant also repeated, 'This is retaliation,'” charging documents state.

Police said the woman feared for her life because she believed Taman could carry out the alleged threats.

“She stated that she believed this statement was directed at her sons. She also stated that she feared that the defendant would carry out his threats against her and her children because of the friends he was hanging out with. … These friends are also known to carry weapons,” the complaint states.

According to court documents, police interviewed the woman's son, who reportedly heard the argument as it began in the bedroom.

“He and his brother helped the defendant out of the apartment. The defendant resisted and dropped her near the stairs. He assumed that the defendant was injured and bleeding. He stated that the defendant left on foot and said he was “coming back” with his crew and (expletive) them upstairs at their house,” the complaint states.

The woman's other son confirmed the statements, but also reported other threatening behavior.

“He stated that the defendant assumed a blade stance as if he was going to hit his mother, then grabbed a cup of water and a kitchen knife and suddenly stabbed the cup while staring at the victim, his mother.” Samuel told police, that the way the defendant stabbed the cup made it appear as if he was “letting the victim know it was going to be her,” the charging documents said, noting that the victim's daughter was the one Events also confirmed.

Officers reported seeing a small scratch on the inside of the woman's left elbow that was about an inch long. They also discovered a damaged cup in the living room.

Police further stated that a neighbor of the apartment also reported hearing the defendant say, “I'm going to shoot up the house.”

Based on information GPD received, Taman was located the following day at a residence near the Dome in Dededo.

“The man matched the defendant's description and admitted that he was Marc Taman,” the complaint said.

Taman was interviewed at the Dededo Precinct Command, where he reportedly waived his Miranda rights and told officers his version of events.

“(The) defendant stated that the victim accidentally hit him in the back and they began to argue. He explained that he tried to hold her from behind to calm her down when she pulled away. He admitted that he may have held her by the neck area at one point. He couldn't remember if she had suffocated. “He admitted that he was screaming that he was going to come back and shoot them all in their house,” court documents say.

As a result of the allegations, Taman was charged with terrorism, strangulation and family violence, all as third-degree felonies.

He was committed to the correctional facility on $7,000 bail.
