Drugs worth Rs 1,800 crore recovered from factory near Bhopal, two people arrested

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Gujarat have seized drugs worth around Rs 1,800 crore in a joint operation. The massive drug haul was discovered during a raid on a factory near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The raid resulted in the seizure of MD drugs (Mephedrone) manufactured at the factory. Authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with illegal drug production.

This comes almost a week after Delhi Police conducted one of the biggest drug raids ever in the city. Over 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, estimated to be worth around Rs 5,620 crore, were seized from Mahipalpur in south Delhi.

The raid was considered the largest drug raid ever in the state capital.

The marijuana was believed to have originated from Phuket, Thailand and was brought to India by air. The cocaine was believed to have originated from West Asian countries and various Indian states. According to officials, the defendants paid for the purchase of the drugs primarily in cryptocurrencies and later sold them.

Five people – Tushar Goyal (40), Jitendra Pal Singh alias Jassi (40), Himanshu Kumar (27), Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) and Bharat Kumar Jain (48) – were arrested in the case and Goyal was identified as the mastermind.
