WALK THE HOAN Closes Milwaukee's Famous Bridge; Here's why

The first annual WALK THE HOAN 5K took people across Milwaukee's famous bridge on Saturday to raise money for a good cause.

Organizers of the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon staged the event where the Hoan Bridge was closed for hours while people walked and ran across it. Officials said it attracted people from all over the country.

“In fact, people came from all over the United States. “I was part of the registration process and just watched people check in from the East Coast and West Coast, so people are coming in from all over for the events,” said Ally Klasinski, co-director of the event.

All proceeds from WALK THE HOAN benefited the This Time Tomorrow Foundation, which helps people battling cancer.

“This Time Tomorrow Foundation provides direct financial support to those battling cancer at a time when they need it most,” Cory Zimmermann, co-founder of This Time Tomorrow Foundation, said in a statement. “This increased awareness will allow us to help more people than ever before.”
