More than 10,000 anti-Semitic incidents were recorded in the United States in the year following Hamas' October 7 terrorist attack on Israel. That represents the highest annual number ever recorded, according to data released Sunday by the Anti-Defamation League. Of those incidents, at least 1,200 occurred on U.S. college campuses, a 500 percent increase from the previous year.

The ADL report, which covers the period from October 7, 2023 to September 24, 2024, recorded a total of 10,005 incidents, an increase of more than 200 percent compared to last year's 3,325. This includes 8,015 cases of verbal or written harassment, 1,840 cases of vandalism and 150 physical attacks on Jews.

According to the report, at least 1,200 incidents occurred on campus, compared to about 200 incidents on campus the year before. More than 3,000 “took place during anti-Israel rallies that regularly explicitly expressed support for terrorist groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine,” the ADL wrote in a press release.

The numbers reflect the severity of rising anti-Semitism in the United States, both on college campuses and off. They are also expected to grow. The ADL called its new data “preliminary” and likely to increase as the group “receives more incident reports from partners, law enforcement and victims.”

ADL boss Jonathan Greenblatt described the new figures as “shocking”.

“Today we mourn the victims of the October 7 Hamas attack in Israel, which marks one year after the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust,” he said in a statement. “From that day on, Jewish Americans have not had a single moment of peace.”

Monday marked one year since Hamas terrorists killed about 1,200 people, raped women, tortured and murdered children and took more than 200 prisoners, including American citizens. Anti-Israel protests are expected to take place in dozens of US cities, including Washington, D.C, new YorkAnd Atlantato celebrate “a year of resistance.”

Another reportreleased last week by the AMCHA Initiative, found that the rise in anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incidents on college campuses is particularly pronounced in schools with departments of the Faculty of Justice in Palestine. Jewish students at such schools are seven times more likely to be victims of physical violence than students at non-faculty schools.
