CT man arrested on two warrants for burglary and attempted robbery

A Connecticut man was arrested Thursday on two warrants in connection with a burglary in Mansfield and an attempted robbery in Ashford.

According to Connecticut State Police, Kwitzpatrick Duffany, 37, of Willimantic was arrested Thursday morning in Rockville Superior Court on two separate felony warrants.

Troop C officers were assigned to investigate a commercial burglary at a jewelry store in Mansfield on May 25, 2023. The investigation produced a positive DNA match for Duffany based on items left at the scene, state police said.

On May 31, 2023, Troop C officers were assigned to investigate a report of a suspicious person at a supermarket in Ashford. The investigation led to the discovery of a stolen firearm and a conspiracy to commit robbery at the business.

The total charges against Duffany are: third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal misrepresentation, second-degree trespassing, criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, five counts of third-degree identity theft, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Robbery, carrying a firearm under the influence of alcohol/drugs, weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a handgun without a permit and attempted first-degree robbery.

For the burglary incident, Duffany was issued a $75,000 court bond and for the attempted robbery, he was issued a $175,000 court bond and was released into the custody of bailiffs for arraignment on the same day.
