Fatal single-vehicle accident claims life of new Iberia man – KQKI News

New Iberia – On September 4, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle accident with serious injuries that occurred on Louisiana Highway 3195. The accident ultimately claimed the life of a 30-year-old. old Taylor Alexander of New Iberia.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to stop a 2012 Honda Accord driven by Alexander on LA Highway 87. Alexander then fled from officers at high speed. As the pursuit continued north
As Alexander drove from LA Hwy 87 onto LA Hwy 3195, he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the southbound lane, left the roadway to the left and overturned after entering a ditch.

During the accident, Alexander, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A standard toxicology sample was taken from Alexander, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit.

On October 4, 2024, Troop I was informed that Alexander had succumbed to his injuries on October 2, 2024. The Louisiana State Police is the lead agency in the crash investigation, which is ongoing.
