Massive Drug Raid: 626 Unclaimed Parcels Seized at Bengaluru Foreign Post Office | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: About 626 packets of brown sugar, cocaine, MDMA, ganja and others narcotic substances were seized by detectives from Foreign Post Office at Fifth Main, Fourth Cross, Chamarajpet Central Crime Branch (CCB).
Based on the information provided by customs officials about the unclaimed packagesThe investigation has been entrusted to the Anti-Drug Wing (ANW) of the CCB. Accordingly, a team of CCB officials along with the sniffer dog team visited the post office and seized the packages.
BR Gowda, police inspector, ANW, CCB, in his complaint to the Bengaluru city CCB police station said that hundreds of parcels remained unclaimed since 2018 till September 9 this year.
A team was tasked with using informants to track down the recipients, but the efforts were in vain. So Gowda contacted the DCP, CAR South, and asked for a sniffer dog squad to find out whether narcotics were present there Drugs in the plots. The team went to the post office on October 1st with the sniffer dog Rana. During the thorough check, Rana signaled to the officers that there were narcotics in at least 626 packages.
A senior official said: “We are yet to ascertain the exact quantity of drugs seized. Since there are different types of drugs in the packages, we need at least four to five days to weigh the quantity.”
People who book medications using cryptocurrency on the dark web often provide the wrong address. The recipients usually collect the packages personally from the post office. But for unknown reasons, these plots remained unclaimed for the last six years. On average, 100 packages go uncollected every year. “We have noted the details of the people whose names appear on the packages and a team is making efforts to trace them,” the official added.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
