Grain Valley man arrested after phone revealed child sexual abuse videos

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (KCTV) – A 22-year-old Grain Valley man is behind bars after dozens of videos and photos of child sexual abuse were found on his phone.

Jackson County, Missouri, court records filed Tuesday, October 1, show Garrett K. Hibdon, 22, of Grain Valley, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography.

Grain Valley police said investigators met on Sept. 19 with Kansas City police, who were working on an investigation that stemmed from a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

When police officers analyzed the data sent from Hibdon's phone, they found 54 videos and 2 photos related to child sexual abuse. In an interview with Hibdon, he admitted the crimes to investigators.

“I'm just going to be open, not a day goes by that I don't belittle myself for what I did,” Hibdon told police officers. “…I know we just met, but I’m sorry.”

As of Sunday, October 6, Hibdon remains behind bars on a $100,000 bond. A bond review hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th at 1:00 p.m., and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 28th at 10:30 a.m.
