Hampden County Sheriff Shuffle was held to combat domestic violence

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – The 2024 Hampden County Sheriff's Shuffle Against Domestic Violence was held Sunday in Holyoke.

The annual charity event comes at a time when the Bay State is facing a recent spike in domestic violence incidents.

The event was organized by the Sheriff's Office in collaboration with the YWCA of Western Massachusetts.

Event organizers told Western Mass News their mission is to raise awareness and provide much-needed support to victims.

“Anyone can become a victim of domestic violence. Our intention is to inform everyone that victim assistance is available through the YWCA of Western Massachusetts. There is an emergency hotline there 24 hours a day and everyone should know that it is difficult for victims to reach them. “Come in and ask for assistance,” organizer David Snow told us.

Snow added that it was emotional for him to see how many residents showed up today to support this important cause.
