The State Patrol pursuit leads to a fatal rollover accident

One person is dead after a police chase involving the Washington State Patrol (WSP) resulted in a rollover crash in Everett.

This case ended at 19th Street and Rainier Avenue before 8 p.m. Sunday.

The Everett Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed to “X” that one person died. EMS evaluated a second person who was then released.

A WSP trooper confirmed to KOMO News that it was a pursuit by one of their officers that led to the crash. However, it is unclear who they were pursuing and why. KOMO is also working to determine if it was their suspect who was killed in the rollover.

An Everett officer on scene added that two cars were involved in the rollover accident and one ended up on its roof.

KOMO crews saw police checking the other vehicle, a silver Subaru with a smashed front hood and bumper near a dilapidated street sign.

A neighbor claimed he saw the driver speeding in the residential area and then heard the large accident.

“The bang was pretty loud. “It sounded like an explosion,” the neighbor said. “It’s crazy because I’ve lived down here for years and you just don’t hear anything like that.”

Another neighbor, Selene Gudino, said she was grateful her family was not hurt. She explained that seconds after the accident, she was parked in her driveway with her children in the car just a few hundred feet away.

The road is expected to remain closed for a longer period of time for police investigations.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
