BTS star Suga fined $11,500 for drunk driving on an e-scooter – Music News

K-pop star Suga has been fined $11,500 (£8,600) for driving an electric scooter while drunk.

The BTS bandmate was fined 15 million won last week by a judge at the Seoul Western District Court in South Korea over the incident. His license had already been revoked.

In August, the 31-year-old singer was found by police after he fell off an e-scooter near his home in Seoul. They then administered a breath test, which he failed. According to reports, his blood alcohol level was 0.227%, well above the limit of 0.08%.

Suga apologized for his behavior in a statement at the time, explaining that he thought it was okay to use the e-scooter because he had forgotten that you couldn't use one “under the influence of alcohol” and that he could only use it “a short distance ” drive. .

“Although no one was hurt and no property was damaged, this is solely my responsibility and there are no excuses,” he said. “I apologize to those who were hurt by my negligence and misconduct, and I will ensure that something like this does not happen again in the future.”

BTS are currently taking a break while the seven band members do their military service. Suga was found unsuitable for traditional combat service and therefore works as a social worker.

The Dynamite hitmakers are expected to reunite in 2025.
