Artur Beterbiev didn't hesitate when asked if he would like to fight Canelo Alvarez after Bivol

Artur Beterbiev is looking to maintain his 100 percent knockout rate in his next fight at light heavyweight and has shared his thoughts on Canelo Alvarez announcing his desire to return to the division in the future.

The Russian has comprehensively beaten everyone he has faced so far, including Brits Anthony Yarde, Callum Johnson and Callum Smith among many others.

He currently holds three of the four major world titles and has a mouth-watering, undisputed light heavyweight showdown with the equally talented Dimitry Bivol on October 12 in Saudi Arabia.

The fight has been a long time coming, but now, after a delay due to an injury to Beterbiev, his raw power will meet the refined skills, footwork and defense of Bivol in one of the best match-ups available in world boxing.

Whoever wins has many options, one of which is a fight with Canelo, who has expressed his desire to return to the light heavyweight division after previously becoming world champion at 175 after knocking out Sergey Kovalev in 2019. He would be promoted again in 2022 but failed against Bivol and has been looking for a rematch ever since.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Beterbiev was asked what he thought about a fight with the Mexican and was taken aback.

“I don't know. Canelo Alvarez has a belt from my division, this time I wanted to fight him, but now I don't think so anymore. I'm really not interested in this fight.”

At the time, he was asked if the belts were most important to him.

“Naturally.”

Both Bivol and Beterbiev have been impressively focused on this fight and aren't exactly keen on worrying about what might come next. However, Beterbiev has said he could potentially move up to cruiserweight if he wins.
