SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) – Salina authorities say a high school student was arrested after threatening to shoot all the students at an upcoming homecoming dance.

Salina police said the department became aware of a threat against Central High School via social media on Saturday evening.

During an investigation, police said they discovered that a 16-year-old Central High student had made a comment about “shooting everyone at this dance.”

Further investigation by officials and school resource officers revealed that the “dance” was Salina Central’s homecoming dance.

USD305 and school officials were notified and the juvenile was located by officers outside of the school.

The juvenile was arrested for criminal threats and taken to the Saline County Jail, where he was ultimately transferred to the Junction City Juvenile Detention Center.

According to the investigation, there appears to be no further danger to Central High students or employees, the SPD said.
