Clemson University closed, USC Upstate virtual classes

Editor's note: This story is continually updated.

While there is a flood warning in the Upstate until Friday afternoon due to Hurricane Helene, schools and colleges are making decisions about cancellations and e-learning.

Here's what we know so far:

Furman University is closed until Saturday

According to Clinton Colmenares, senior director of news and media strategy at Furman University, “Dozens of trees fell across the Furman campus. Some buildings are experiencing flooding and leaking roofs. The Greenville area is experiencing widespread flooding and there are widespread power outages throughout the region, including on campus. There is no indication as to when electricity will be available again. Fortunately, no injuries were reported on campus. Crews have been in operation since this morning and will continue to be on campus making repairs and tree removal. The safety of students, faculty and staff remains our greatest concern.”
