HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A woman remains in critical condition after she was beaten and assaulted by suspects who may have been following her during her ride, officials said.

According to Houston police, the attack occurred on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of Lockfield and 43rd.

Officials said the woman arrived at an apartment complex via a ride-sharing app when several unknown men got out of a black SUV and allegedly attacked her with a bat or baton.

All suspects fled the scene. Officials did not provide any descriptions.

HPD said it appeared the suspects were following the woman.

After officers rendered aid, the woman was taken to the hospital.
