PDC man sentenced to 40 years in prison for raping and murdering neighbor's daughter

Playa del Carmen, QR – The main suspect in the 2021 rape and murder of a Playa del Carmen girl has been found guilty. A judge has sentenced Carlos Alex “N” to 40 years in prison for raping and murdering his neighbor’s daughter.

The girl, whose name was not released, was found dead in her home in Zazil Há on 42nd Street on December 29, 2021. According to local authorities, “he was a neighbor of the victim whom he had sexually touched days earlier.”

In a statement, police said: “On the day of the events, the now convicted man took the victim to his house where he committed the crime of rape and kept her there until she was found dead days later.”

“In a court hearing, the judge found him guilty of the crime of femicide against a minor, for which he was sentenced to 40 years in prison in addition to paying 878,458 pesos to make up for moral damage.”
