NFL and NFLPA investigate incident between fan and Bengals' Chase Brown

Chase Brown's best day ever as an NFL player didn't have the best ending. Brown, the Bengals' second-year running back, was throwing his gloves to fans after the team's 34-24 win over the Panthers when a fan appeared to pour a drink on him as he walked toward the locker room.

The incident, which is under review by both the NFLPA and NFL, put a damper on Brown's big day in which he scored two touchdown runs.

“I came in [and] I felt the fluid or whatever, and then when I saw the video I was like, 'Damn, that really happened,'” Brown said, via ESPN.

Michael Thomas, an NFLPA player director, said the incident has been referred to NFL and NFLPA officials.

“We'll see if we can identify the person and then we'll go from there,” Thomas told ESPN on Monday. “But that should never happen to a player.”

Unfortunately for the Panthers, the franchise is becoming synonymous with throwing drinks. In January, Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 from the NFL after he apparently threw a drink at a Jaguars fan during a Week 17 loss.

As for his situation, Brown said he wasn't upset enough to confront the fan at the time. However, he hopes he and other players can avoid similar situations in the future.

“Please don’t pour drinks on us,” Brown said. “I mean, no one wants that.”

As for the fan who apparently spilled his drink on Brown, like any fan who behaves unruly at games, he may face punishment, including a possible lifetime ban if he is identified.
