Shreveport police identify murder suspect

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Shreveport Police investigators are searching for a man connected to a fatal stabbing.

Cornelius Jackson, also known as “Mookey,” is wanted in connection with the murder of 51-year-old Eric Clinton.

Clinton was found unresponsive and fatally wounded around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday (September 25) in the 1900 block of Legardy Street. He was stabbed multiple times. Clinton was taken to Ochsner LSU Health, where he died at 10:35 a.m. that same day.

“Homicide personnel worked tirelessly throughout the day to collect witness statements, video footage and additional evidence that led to the identification of Jackson as a suspect,” a police statement said. “A warrant has been issued for his arrest for second-degree murder.”

Clinton's death marks the 40th homicide this year in Shreveport and the 43rd homicide in Caddo Parish.

“Cornelius Jackson is considered armed and dangerous, and SPD investigators will not rest until he is found and brought to justice,” the police statement said.
