DEP releases details after wastewater spills into river

SELINSGROVE, SNYDER COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – 28/22 News has an update on the Snyder County sewer line that burst, spilling hundreds of thousands of gallons of sewage into a creek that flowed into the Susquehanna River.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the breach occurred on Sunday, September 22, near the Eastern Snyder County Regional Authority's wastewater treatment plant in Selinsgrove.

As a result, over 459,000 gallons of wastewater were dumped into the water.

A new 10 foot pipe was installed.

Officials say that while immediate concerns have subsided, those entering the river for swimming, fishing or boating should check conditions.
