“I wanted to ask a personal question, as someone who wants to be a mother,” the Rare Beauty founder asked Hargitay, who is mother to children Amaya, 13, and Andrew, 13, with husband Peter Hermann on August 18. “How does the compensation work? Because I remember picking up your kids from school one day and I really enjoyed that,” Gomez remembers. “It felt so normal and real. How do you balance that? Because one day I hope to do that.”

Wow, imagine the Selena Gomez Pick you up from school? If that happens, my kids would never want to see me in line again! It is unclear under what circumstances this babysitting job took place, but it seems that it made her more confident in her decision to become a mother one day.

Of course, Hargitay had a nice answer for her friend. “And you will,” she assured Gomez that she would one day become a mother. “It’s hard for all working mothers. There were so many times that I was torn or frustrated because in our job you can't say, “Guys, I'm not coming in today.” But I incorporated it here. My children come to work with me. Are there things I miss? Yes.”

She continued: “The flip side is that my kids are really proud of me. I talk to them a lot about what kind of life you want, who you want to be and how you want to spend your time. And what do you want to give back and who do you want to influence and what do you want to create? And so I look at it now and think, yeah, I missed something. There were days when the nanny did a little more and that was hard. But for the first year I took August to work with me every day. And you can too. It's doable. I am happier and live a more fulfilling life, and they feel and see that. And when I’m with them, I’m with them.”
