“Cats and The Wiz” legend Ken Page has died at the age of 70

Musical star Ken Page has died aged 70, his agent has confirmed.

Page played the role of Lion in the musical The magician and originated in Old Deuteronomy Cats on Broadway and then played the role in the filmed stage version of the show. Other stage appearances include Nicely-Nicely Johnson in the first Broadway revival of Nicely-Nicely Johnson. Boys and dolls And It's not bad behavior.

In the West End, Page starred opposite Stephen Schwartz and John Cairds Children of Eden when it had its world premiere at the Prince Edward Theater in 1991.

He was a regular stage presence at the Muny in St. Louis and appeared from 1973 to 2024 – most recently in a revival of Waitress, plays the role of Joe.

On screen, he portrayed Oogie Boogie in the popular classic animated film The nightmare before Christmas, while he also plays along dream girl And Torch Song Trilogy.
