Former NFL running back arrested for extreme drunk driving in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Former NFL running back Eddie Lacy faces drunken driving charges after his arrest late Monday night in Scottsdale, police said.

According to Scottsdale Police, officers responded to reports of a possible impaired driver and located a vehicle matching the description provided. According to police, the traffic violations were “observed by the officers,” who then stopped the vehicle.

After an investigation, Lacy was arrested and booked into the Scottsdale City Jail on the following charges:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol – impaired to the least degree
  • DUI – BAC of .08 or greater
  • Extreme DUI – BAC .15 or greater
  • Extreme DUI – BAC .20 or greater
  • Alcohol – open container present in vehicle

Police have not released any further information about the arrest.

Lacy, 34, played college football at Alabama from 2009 to 2012 and participated in three BCS National Championships. He was named Offensive MVP in his final college game, the 2012 BCS Championship Game against Notre Dame.

In the 2013 NFL Draft, Lacy was selected 61st overall by the Green Bay Packers. In his first year, he ran for nearly 1,200 yards with 11 touchdowns and was named the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Lacy played four seasons for Green Bay before signing a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017.
